🌙 night train from London to Fort William to wake up with the best views

⛰️ Fort William 2 days

~ bus to Kyle of Lochalsh and then the scenic train to Inverness along the coast

🌊 Inverness 2 days
~ tip is to take the train south through the Scottish highlanda if you have time
~ don’t miss visiting the Malt Room or looking for Nessie in the park

~ we booked a day tour to visit the northeast coast and fishing villages. Incredible experience!

My favourite top places to visit in Germany

1. Schwerin — a castle rising straight out of a lake, aperitivo in hand at golden hour. Stay at Niederländischer Hof if you can — old-world charm at its finest.

2. Cochem — a medieval castle perched above the Moselle river, surrounded by vineyards. It looks like it was drawn from a storybook.

3. Bamberg — built across seven hills, with a smoking beer tradition and a UNESCO old town that genuinely stops you in your tracks.

4. Aachen — Charlemagne’s city, with a cathedral that’s been a pilgrimage site for over a thousand years. History you can feel in the cobblestones.

5. Bacharach — perhaps the most romantic stretch of the Rhine. Half-timbered houses, castle ruins, and the river curving around it all.

6. Lüneburg — tilting, crooked medieval houses that lean into each other like old friends. The salt trade built it; time forgot to change it.

7. Bremen — the town musicians, the market square, the Böttcherstraße. Small enough to wander, rich enough to stay for days.

8. Osnabrück — a quietly beautiful Hanseatic town that most people fly straight past. Which means you’ll nearly have it to yourself.

🚂 Caledonian Sleeper is one of Britain’s most underrated travel experiences @caledoniansleeper

No flights. No early alarms. Just a private cabin, a cheese platter in the Club Car, Harry Potter on the screen and km after km of countryside passing quietly in the dark.

By morning, the Highlands appear outside your window like something from a film. Breakfast with that view might be the best meal of your trip.

Final stop: Fort William. ✨
