5 stunning interrail routes to do this summer

Updated: Feb 2

Last year I went to 16 countries in Europe by train and did a total of 5 interrail and it was such an adventure! 🏔️

Here are 5 great summer routes I would do for a 1-2 weeks interrail in Europe

1. The grand Italian tour 🇮🇹

Venice - Bologna - Florence - Siena - Rome - Napoli - Amalfi

Experience the best Italy has to offer with this dreamy interrail. From the canals of Venice, to the history of Florence, Siena and Rome, to pizza heaven Napoli and the summer dream of Amalfi.

Note - these are all pretty touristic areas, so i would recommend travelling outside of peak season (july-august)

2. The Mediterranean dream tour 🍋

Barcelona - Marseille - Nice - Monaco - Menton - Alassio - Genua - Portofino - Cinque Terre - Viareggio

This route is perfect if you want great seafood, experience stunning hill villages, spend long days at the beach and feel that sea breeze in your hair.

3. European Wine dream 💭🍷

Heidelberg - Rhen river - Koblenz - Kochem - Trier - Luxembourg - Strasbourg - Colmar

The route for wine lovers and people drawn by scenic views. Along the Rhen and Mosel river you find one of the world's steepest wine plantations. Going by train is this area gives you views of castles on hills and rivers long and beautiful.

Going into Colmar and Strasbourg offers you some pretty cool postcard views. These cities are really worth spending some time in!

4. the Scandinavian beauty route 🏔️

Copenhagen - Oslo - Bergen - Flåm - Trondheim - Åndalsnes

Scandinavia is one of my favourite places in Europe and in my opinion very underrated. Find breathtaking views, and yes the trains go right through them, a lot of history and nature you've never seen before.

5. the European wonders 🏰

Berlin - Prague - Vienna - Bratislava - Budapest

If you enjoy stunning buldings, Vienna and Budapest are definitely something for you. Bratslava and Prague are cosy cities cheap to travel to and also very underrated!

Where would you like to go most?
